Biography – Wendy Seagren

In college I minored in interior design and later completed all of the photography, photoshop and journalism classes offered in the local college. Because I love the beauty of nature and enjoy the outdoors my emphasis has been to photograph landscapes, especially our National Parks.

Publications include the L.A. Times Travel Section. My first book, entitled, Portraits of Light, A Photographic Journey Through the Seasons of Light in Yosemite, has recently been published by Blurb.  It is sold through Amazon or here on my website.

I am currently a  member of the Oregon Professional Photographers Association. I have been a member for the last 4 years.  Last year, in 2016, I served on the Executive Board as secretary. I received my OPPA Fellowship from OPPA in 2015.

I am also a member of our National Group, Professional Photographers of America.  At our once yearly International Photographic Competition over the last 4 years, I have received coveted merit awards for my landscape and fine art photography.  At the 2016 International Photographic Competition my photo entitled “Crystal Kaleidoscope was selected for the prestigious Loan Collection.  I received a bronze award from PPA/IPC for 2 of my merited photos and my Loan Image. My loan image is entitled “Crystal Kaleidoscope” and was printed in our Loan Book by Marathon Press.  The 2017 PPA/IPC was a wonderful year.  I received a Silver Medal for 3 merited photos and a Loan Image.  This years loan image is entitiled “Shaped By Storms.”  It will appear in our loan book, soon to be published by Marathan Books.  My merited photos over the last three years have been published in our General Collection Book by Marathon Press. I can now say that 7 of my award winning photos were taken in Yosemite. My Yosemite photos have also received finalist status in Charley Waites, United States of America Landscape Photographer of the Year.

In 2016 I received my Master’s Degree from PPA.  I received my medal at Imaging USA, San Antonio in 2017. Mark Fitgerald was my presenter and has been my mentor throughtout my photographic career. I owe so much to him.  He has been such an inspiration to me.  Because I received my Master’s Degree from PPA, I became a member of the American Society of Photographers where I am working towards my Fellowship.

Memberships include Oregon Professional Photographer’s Association (OPPA), Professional Photographer’s of America (PPA) and NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals). I have just joined Photographic Society of America and their local affiliate FilmPack located in Vancouver, Washington.

My workflow is through Adobe’s Creative Cloud which includes Lightroom and Photoshop.  My work strives to tell a story that is breathtaking and memorable.

Every year I am more excited than the year before about photographing the National Parks, perhaps because now I look at it through a special lens – my heart. It is like visiting an old friend that you have not seen for awhile.
